I often get parents of dyslexic children telling me that their child struggles with multiplication tables. I remember as a child, the way I learnt the multiplication tables was through rote memorising. Dyslexics, on the other hand, don’t learn the same way as we do. Multiplication tables can be mastered in a logical way and I agree with what the speaker in the video shared, through the process of first counting, then figuring out and finally, retention of facts learnt. Dyslexics are good at seeing patterns and making sense of things. Are you still making your child memorise the multiplication tables? Try a different approach if things are still not getting through for your child.
